"You Aren't Really Here"
(A Dialogue with my Granddaughter, Tegan)

"Tegan, did you know that you aren't really here right now?”

"You're funny, Grammy, I am here... I'm right here."

"Tegan, I can prove to you that you aren't really here."

She giggles and says, "Okay."

I say, "Are you in California?"

"No," Tegan replies.

"Are you in an airplane, flying in the sky?"

"No," She giggles.

"Okay then, are you at Disney world?"

"No!!" she exclaims excitedly.

"Well, if you aren't in California and you aren't in an airplane,
and you aren't at Disney world, then you must be someplace else, right?!"

She covers her mouth...giggling harder while nodding her
head in the affirmative.

"Well then, Tegan, if you aren't in any of those places, you must be
someplace else and if you are someplace else, then you can't be here!"

"So Tegan, you see you aren't really here!!!"

"Grammy, you're so silly," she laughs.

"It's hereditary." I reply.

"What's her-ed-i-tary?" she repeats slowly.

"It means you're silly too, Tegan!"
