The Midnight Call

I hear the midnight call

Upon a stormy night,

Pain enclosed so deep inside

Will it ever take its flight?

But to slumber and forget,

Yet sleep evades my mind

I toss and turn upon my bed

With thoughts that still unwind

One day I will be at rest

Death holds no wild alarm

When all of love hath flown away

And nothing left to charm

No longer will it matter

How hard the rain does fall

No longer will I feel it

There will be no pain at all!

I will leave it all behind me

And take my Savior’s hand

For love will never vanish

In that blessed Beulah land

Though all the world desert me

And nighttime shadows fall

I’ll never be alone again

When I hear the midnight call
